Henderson Honors Tampa Fire Rescue’s 130 Years of Service and Sacrifice

Over the weekend, mayoral candidate Alan Henderson joined the community in honoring Tampa Fire Rescue’s 130th anniversary, spending the day alongside the brave men and women who risk their lives daily to protect the city. “It was truly one of the most grounding moments of this campaign,” Henderson shared. “What these first responders do—the sacrifice, the precision, the humanity in every call—they're literally heroes; they truly embody the very best & bravest of Tampa.” From live rescue demonstrations to family conversations and tactical cross-training showcases, the visit offered a front-row look at the intense realities these professionals face and the deep community bonds they maintain.

Henderson also used the occasion to affirm his commitment to fully supporting first responders—not just in words, but through action. “That means best-in-class equipment, top-tier training, comprehensive mental health resources, a Bay Area wide Support Network and ensuring every responder makes it home safe to their families,” he said. Noting the integrated efforts between Tampa Fire Rescue and Tampa PD, including joint SWAT operations, Henderson stressed the importance of collaborative, well-funded public safety. “It's obviously not just about honoring them” he added. “It’s also about building a future where they’re prepared, respected, and backed by real leadership that takes their sacrifice very seriously.”
