30 Years of Legacy: Henderson Supports Dominican Association’s Vision for Tampa

This week, mayoral candidate Alan Henderson joined residents and community leaders in honoring the 30th Anniversary and Board Installation Ceremony of the Dominican Association of Tampa (DAOT). The event was a celebration of legacy, leadership, and cultural pride, drawing generations of Dominican voices who’ve shaped Tampa’s civic and cultural landscape. “The energy in the room was authentic and reflective—this wasn’t just a ceremony, it was a powerful reminder that heritage is such a thoughtful engine for progress,” Henderson said. He congratulated the newly installed board members and extended deep gratitude to leaders like President Tanya Polanco Hernandez and Marcella N. Hernandez, who continue to uplift and organize with purpose.

Henderson emphasized that Tampa’s strength lies in its diversity and that community-rooted organizations like DAOT are essential to building a city that works for everyone. “This is the kind of diversity in leadership that makes Tampa better—not just culturally, but politically, socially, and economically,” he added. As his campaign continues to prioritize inclusive engagement, Henderson reiterated his commitment to partnering with Tampa’s many communities of heritage and ensuring they have a seat at the table in shaping the city’s future. “Tampa doesn’t thrive despite our differences—it thrives because of them. That’s what inclusive leadership looks like.”
